After the big release of Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing, SEGA fans are already looking forward to the next big thing: DLC. With so many classic SEGA titles and IPs to choose from, it's only natural that some of our favorites got left out of SSASR's final character cut. Based on our last interview with the development team, they had over 50 characters at first, but had to whittle it down to around 22 for launch. However, thanks to the modern, geek-tastic miracle of downloadable content, hopes are high for new characters in the near future. Here's a look at 10 Sega characters we'd love to see driving a kart/motorcycle/hovercraft/ATV and shooting rockets at Sonic and AiAi.
Ranging from obvious (and likely) picks to obscure choices, this list is a result of scouring SEGA fan forums and heated fan debates. These SEGA characters are those getting high demand from the SEGA community (with a touch of our own picks) so hopefully everybody will see at least one character they like. Agree? Disagree? Let us and SEGA know!
NiGHTS from NiGHTS into Dreams

This one is a no brainer. Though NiGHTS does show up as the flag bearer, fans are screaming for the famous Nightmaren to be a playable character. He could easily be driving one of his alternate forms like the bobsled.
Centurion from Altered Beast

Okay I admit, this one has a heavy push on my part. I loved this game growing up. I mean seriously, who doesn't want to be able to turn into a golden man/bear who can shoot fire? Oh, and he also has like 18 pack abs, so that's pretty damn impressive. Centurion could easily change forms as a special move, unleashing a fury of fire kicks. "WISE FROM YOUR GRAVES"
Toe Jam and Earl from Toe Jam and Earl

Another no brainer, Toe Jam and Earl have been in discussions of playable characters for as long as the game has been in development. Apparently there's been some positive hints to reaching an agreement between Toe Jam and Earl's creator and SEGA, so let's keep our fingers crossed. Vehicle? Their broken a$$ spaceship of course! They'd fit right in next to "Beat" with their funky fresh stylin!
Vectorman from Vectorman

For Pre-rendered, trash cleaning glory, who better to include than Vectorman? Since Vectorman can assume different shapes, a badass motorcycle made from Vectorman's shiny, green balls (...did I really say that?) would be perfect.
Keil Fluge from Panzer Dragoon

How Keil Fluge didn't make the cut is beyond me. One of SEGA's most loved IPs, completely forgotten? Though I guess it WOULD be hard to think of a vehicle for him. What ever could he ride?!
HuMar from Phantasy Star Online

This was a toss up between the more recent and incredibly popular PSO, or the classic Phantasy Star. Since many people can attribute wasting hours away on PSO's amazing online componenet back on the dreamcast, the trademark HuMar character would make a valuable and recognizable character. Pair that with his Mag's Photon Blast as a special move? Epic.
Temjin from Cyber Troopers Virtual-On

People wasted stacks of quarters for 1 on 1, mech combat in Virtual-On. A true representative of Arcade machine glory, with the number of crazy attacks and other mechs to choose from, Virtual-On really deserves the love.
Vyse from Skies of Arcadia

Fans have straight up noted they would buy SSASR purely for the reason of Vyse's appearance. If Vyse came complete with a flying ship for a vehicle, the sky-pirate would really strike some gold with SEGA's fans, and for SEGA's profits.
Ristar from Ristar

A classic, lesser known title by mainstream gamers, Ristar's inclusion would appease many of the hardcore SEGA fans and help get a fantastic older character more recognition. Pair that with a SEGA release of Ristar on Xbox live arcade? Perfect. Oh, special move? Grab and slam!
Joe Musashi from Shinobi
Joe Musashi = the original SEGA badass. If more realistic characters like Akira and Ryo can make it, Joe definitely can. Ninja stars galore, though it might be traumatizing for the younger ones when they see a ninja slash up Sonic.
Hm...and while we're at it, oh why not:
Seaman from Seaman
*Shudders* god, Seaman still creeps me out. That's his special power right there
Frankly, regardless of what SEGA has in store for SSASR DLC, we'll be stoked if even a few of these characters make it in to SSASR. One way or another, SEGA take heed, the community forums want more characters!
Because seriously, how cool would it be to race as Joe Musashi.

Good picks of characters you want to see in the Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing DLC. I also would like to see Nights, Humar, Temjin, Vyse, Ristar, and Joe Musashi in the new DLC.
