Quite frankly I think that the guys and girls over at The Creative Assembly have outdone themsleves, because the latest trailer for Shogun 2: Total War looks absolutely stunning.
I could quite easily believe that what we are watching is a lovely bit of CGI footage, created to make a teaser for the game. However at the very start of the video it clearly states "All Footage Captured In Game."
Excellent news everybody, the Mega Drive/ Genesis classic, Shining Force, is now available for download from Apple's AppStore, for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The 16-Bit RPG is available for the excellent price of just $2.99 (£1.79); which is great value considering how long the game can last the average player and not to mention that the Mega Drive original can be sold on eBay for well over $62 (£40), at times.
Well the title says it all. SEGA has released a trailer for the upcoming Thor video game and it's a teaser.
We still don't really know what's going to happen with the game's story, but judging from the concept art (posted earlier), the game should hopefully have some epic set-pieces in its levels.
Ok it might be only concept art, which doesn't necessarily represent the final product, and things can easily change from here on in - but I think the two new pieces of artwork for the upcoming Thor video game look pretty good.
The reason I'm getting excited is probably because concept art for movie tie-in games usually seems to focus on the character models and rarely any level designs. Which, by the final game release, you realise that the levels really didn't get much attention during development - and that is partly why movie tie-ins suck; they ponce about with the character models for about two years and forget about the rest of the game (example: the Iron Man games).
However, the first real concept art we see for Thor is all about level design and the setting, to me, looks like it could be pretty cool.
If you’ve been to any game store in the past 20 years, you’ve no doubt seen Sega titles like Sonic the Hedgehog and Bayonetta lining the shelves. However, Sega’s studios have also been pumping out unique products, gadgets and accessories alongside their games. From wacky peripherals to tasty treats, Sega’s innovation stretches above and beyond the gaming field.
I think it’s fair to say that Bayonetta is by far the hottest witch to ever appear in any videogame, and has really turned into one of Sega’s best new IPs in years. With that said, it’s really no surprise that talented gamers show their love for her in many ways, from art to well done cosplay outfits, and now a Bayonetta chibi plush doll. The circle is complete.
It really wasn’t too long ago, when Sega’s made-in-Japan titles that were never imported to the US required a translation book in one hand and a controller in the other if you wanted to play them. Those dark ages are over, largely in part to Sega’s localization team (thanks for Seaman by the way.) Still, some of their best games still remain across the pond. A dating sim with robots? A free-roaming samurai title? Yes please! Here are some of the titles we want on our shores.
Lock up your daughters, close the curtains and generally start to panic - SEGA has announced another movie tie-in with Thor: The Video Game.
Actually this shouldn't be of any surprise to the majority of SEGA Nerds, because SEGA did originally announce, about three years ago, that they would be transforming at least four Marvel licenses from comic books into video games. So far we have had The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man (1&2) and now it's time for Thor. Oh and the fourth is due to be Captain America.
Usually I can get quite excited about an announcement like this, but with SEGA's shocking movie tie-in track record (of late) I can't help but be worried. And yes this is a movie tie-in; had it been just a cool video game based on the Thor comic books, then no doubt we would all be happy - but this game is due for release around the same time as the Thor Movie - Summer 2011.
The only saving feature could be that Matt Fraction, the main Thor comic book writer, has some involvement with the game's story line; so there is chance that it could be fun.
Anyway there's plenty more information in the press release, after the break.
This is potentially the most exciting news I've heard all month: Today The Creative Assembly announced that SEGA has given the green light for the development studio to create a "major new console title."
Here's the strange announcement blurb from The Creative Assembly's website:
